Routine, Expulsion, and Eretz Israel

The Besheva newspaper asked me to write about "4 years to the expulsion- What are the lessons?"

Here is the translation of the article written in Hebrew:

Routine, Expulsion, and Eretz Israel
by Nadia Matar

Four years after the destruction of Gush Katif and northern Samaria. What are the lessons? What must we learn from the expulsion, so that in another four years we will not have to write, Heaven forbid, of the lessons to be learned from the expulsion from Judea and Samaria?

In my humble opinion, we must, first of all, internalize the fact that we do not have the luxury of immersing ourselves in routine life. Rather, each of us must take part in the struggle. I will never forget that meeting in Neveh Dekalim, about a year before the expulsion, that was organized by the more hard-line activists of the Gush, in which a proposal was already raised to double or even triple the number of Gush inhabitants by bringing new residents into the houses, or even in tents in the yards. One woman stood up and angrily declared: "I don't agree! I refuse to ruin my lawn, and I won't agree to turn my settlement into a refugee camp! I want to continue with my everyday life!" One of the speakers turned to her and wondered: "Don't you think that it's worth it to somewhat undermine routine life for a few months, in order to preserve the routine in the long term?"

The proposal, however, was rejected, and the leaders of the Gush preferred to continue everyday life, taken to an extreme, to the extent that supporters from the outside, with their families, who wanted to move to the Gush, live in the settlements, and be partners in the struggle, had to pass an acceptance committee, even a few weeks before the expulsion. Many were not accepted, and they had no choice but to leave the Gush. Our family, too, was not accepted in Neveh Dekalim. Apparently because we were identified with the "activist" wing. And so our family and additional Women in Green members stayed in Kfar Yam with the family of Arik and Datia Yitzhaki, who received us with open arms.

It is difficult for me to commit those memories to writing. Our brothers from Gush Katif suffer enough, and I don't intend to hurt them by raising these matters, but I feel obligated to speak about the subject, as the learning of lessons for the struggle over Judea and Samaria. I do not mean to say that we should erect tents in our yards now, but today, in light of the bitter experience undergone by our brothers from the Gush, we must understand that "routine" and "expulsion" are connected to each other. [In Hebrew, routine is "shigra" and expulsion is "gerush"-both words with similar roots].

Already now, when there is just talk of the destruction of the outposts, that everyone knows is the first stage of the destruction of the settlement enterprise as a whole, with the goal of establishing a Palestinian state instead, we must make the mental switch and internalize that each of us has the responsibility and obligation to leave our everyday lives and participate in the struggle for Eretz Israel.

Here is the place to raise an additional subject, one that is no less painful: in my humble opinion, we lost the struggle for Gush Katif and northern Samaria because we did not relate to Eretz Israel as a supreme value for which self-sacrifice is needed. If there had been some preposterous government decree that IDF soldiers must enter the homes of Jews on Yom Kippur and forcibly feed them nonkosher food, I assume and hope that a wall-to-wall consensus would take shape among our public on the need to refuse to obey this anti-Jewish and anti-moral order. The victims of the "force-feeding" would not begin a "With Love We Will Be Victorious" campaign, but rather, they, too, would vigorously resist.

And I ask: Why is what is so clear regarding Shabbat and kashrut observance is not clear regarding Eretz Israel?

This is the one million dollar question I have been asking myself for the past four years since the expulsion.

If Eretz Israel is a supreme value, like Shabbat and kashrut, then the way to struggle against the decrees of the destruction of settlements and the handing over of parts of the homeland to the enemy entails self-sacrifice. For us, we can translate this self-sacrifice into refusing orders and mass nonviolent civil disobedience. I am certain that if these two methods of struggle had been implemented in 2005, we would have saved the Gush.

And thus,in my opinion, the main lesson to be drawn from the expulsion, is that we must understand that Eretz Israel is a supreme value for which we leave our everyday lives and go forth to a real struggle, and not only to symbolic protest demonstrations. It is ironic that it is the peoples of the world who teach us of the importance and centrality of Eretz Israel. The peoples of the world don't care if we all study Torah, eat kosher, or observe Shabbat. But if five Jews climb some hill in the area of Judea and Samaria and dare to build a hut on it - the UN, the European Union, the Obama administration, and who knows who else go out of their minds and try to prevent us from doing this.

Undoubtedly, in light of the brazenness of the Obama administration and the Europeans, that are returning us to the time of the White Paper, more and more elements within the people of Israel are coming to their senses. With G-d's help, the tremendous forces inherent in our people will be realized, and this time we will succeed in defending Eretz Israel, and increase building, settlement, and development.

Don't Expel Jews From Gaza!
Read and weep for the Israeli Jews of Gush Katif/Gaza, on whose behalf I wrote this article in July 2005 before their illegal expulsion by the bribed Ariel Sharon and criminal company working for foreign interests. Many of them remain homeless, depressed and basically abandoned by their lying government -- their former homes history, stripped bare and destroyed by marauding Arab enemies who are now fighting among themselves, one terrorist group (Hamas) against another terrorist group (Fatah).

Ariel Sharon: From Zionist to Traitor
General Sharon could have enforced peace through strength, securing Israel a hard-earned victory, rather than rewarding terrorism and undermining Israeli security, breaching Jerusalem's sovereignty, permitting Roman wolves in sheep's clothing, "peacekeepers," to pollute the Holy Land of Israel.

EU to Conquer Anglo-Saxons and Jews
I've come to the sad conclusion, the grievous understanding, that Israel's leaders have often sold out their land and people to foreign interests, bloating their personal bank accounts at Israel's expense, and that the pressure was often an excuse for them to do what they had already agreed upon: continue the lying peace process of phased destruction, dismantle the Jewish Homeland, dismember their Mother piece by piece and pervert the Promised Land of Israel into an accursed "Palestine" (Ps. 83:4).

THE FINAL JERUSALEM PLAN...

www.barrychamish.com

THE FINAL JERUSALEM PLAN...FOR THE UMPTEENTH TIME...AGAIN
by Barry Chamish

So in a four day span in late July, the US sent four insiders to force Israel into freezing home construction in its own land and capital. Naturally, the Obama administration announced that four bigwigs landing in barely half a week was just a "co-incidence." No pressure...just blatant deceit and lying.
Let us, once more, make the obvious observation.
George Mitchell, US Envoy to the Middle East, lands in Syria on Sunday before travelling to Israel and, SHOCK!!!:

Mitchell is a member of the Council On Foreign Relations (CFR). Google it yourself.
On Monday, Defense Secretary Robert Gates (CFR member) enjoyed his stay and threats in Jerusalem.
He was followed the next day by National Security Advisor Gen. James Jones, a member of the Tri-Lateral Commission.
And on Wednesday, token Jew boy, Dennis Ross of the Tri-Lateral Commission, arrived to prove that a Jew is behind the "administration's" plans. Like they started with Obama. In fact, they began many lunatics before.

Thank goodness Obama was elected. McCain (CFR) would have been called "the best President Israel ever had" while doing the same thing. But almost every Israeli opposes Obama, even the peace-loving left:

http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1248277865525&pagename=JPAr

What is genuinely puzzling, however, is why Obama supporters appear
equally deaf to the anguished cries of Israel's left, which has long
advocated precisely these policies. When the editorial staff of
Haaretz, a bastion of Israel's hard left, pens three opinion pieces
criticizing Obama in the space of 10 days, it ought to be clear even
to left-of-center American Jews that Obama has an Israel problem.

O
n the ground, note the upwell of sudden opposition against Barack Hussein! He wants to stop completion of 20 Jewish apartments in Israel's capital neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah, and the whole country responds against him. After all, who is he to tell us, where to live in Jerusalem? Why don't we tell him where to live in Washington? So, 1000 people, of a group not infiltrated by the government, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H27TUyXm8HQ&feature=PlayList&p=158435502B0D6AAA&index=0&playnext=1 organize an anti-American protest before the bigshots arrive.

Demonstration in Jerusalem this Monday 27 July
On the day Mitchell is arriving...6:30 PM at Paris Square, near PM's house. Approximately 8 PM -- march to American Consulate on Agron Street.

Calling on Israel to simply say "no" to US pressure to freeze
settlement activity and to divide the capital, close to a thousand
people rallied outside Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's Jerusalem
home Monday evening.

"People tell us that it is impossible to stand up against American
pressure; there is no bigger lie," yelled out Dani Dayan, who heads
the Council of Jewish Communities of Judea, Samaria and the Gaza
Strip, which helped to organize the event. It was timed to coincide
with US envoy George Mitchell's visit to Israel.

Now look at the influence Obama is having. According to the government, since his election, not counting Jerusalem, the settler population rose from 280,000 to 300,000. In 6 months, the price of a 3 room apartment in Maaleh Adumim, rose from $215,000 to $244,000. All because of new demand.
Bless OBAMA!

Because here is the goal of his superiors, which according to superficial, uninformed and ignorant mass Israeli "thinking," must be his intentions:

JERUSALEM, July 24 (UPI) -- An Israeli-Palestinian document stipulates travel routes, security measures and final borders for a Palestinian state, an Israeli paper said.
The document published in Yedioth Aharonoth Friday reveals for the first time plans for a gradual Israeli withdrawal from the West Bank in a 30-month period, travel restrictions for Israelis and Palestinians, security arrangements and details of the final borders.

Three West Bank highways will be designated for sole Israeli use. Motorists will not have to carry passports but will be provided with a GPS tracking system and panic button for the trip, the paper said. A motorist who strays from the designated route and enters a Palestinian controlled area, will be arrested by members of a multinational force, and returned to Israel to stand trial, the paper said.

The document was completed in recent months by a joint Israeli-Palestinian team, and made available this week to U.S. Secretary of State
Hillary Clinton and U.S. Middle East envoy Gen. Jim Jones, the paper said.

Palestinians and Israelis will be able to enter Jerusalem's Old City without carrying passports. A multinational force stationed in the Old City will be on hand to enforce law and order, and will have the power to make arrests, the paper said. A separate multinational force will be deployed on the Temple Mount.

Don't you just love it? Israel's largest Israeli newspaper by far, reports that the Obama/Clinton (husband CFR)/Jones plan is to divide Jerusalem and make the settlers live in a Kafka nightmare. And I add, the Palestinians are in the same terrifying dream, but they get a state capital in Jerusalem out of it. For them, it's a terrific reverie. Once they achieve their dreamland:

http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3750930,00.html

As the Fatah movement prepares for its upcoming leadership convention, a
senior group member says the event will be used to display Fatah's
commitment to the armed struggle against Israel.

Preparations for the convention, scheduled for August 4, are in full force
at this time. During a series of preliminary meetings ahead of the event,
senior Fatah official Rafik al-Natsheh said that the group will not be
recognizing Israel.

To those who know my work, this is boring. I've repeated the real plan since December of 1993, time after time, over and over, unending, non-stop:

From my book Save Israel:
  1. www. lulu .com/content/517809
In March 1994, the newspaper Chadashot revealed a most remarkable secret of the Middle East "peace" process. A friend of Shimon Peres, the French intellectual Marek Halter, claimed in an interview that in May 1993, he delivered a letter from Peres to the pope. Within, Peres promised to internationalize Jerusalem, granting the UN political control of the Old City of Jerusalem, and the Vatican hegemony of the holy sites within. The UN would give the PLO a capital within its new territory and East Jerusalem would become a kind of free trade zone of world diplomacy.

From the Prez of Israel himself:

Peres Raises 'World Capital' Solution for Jerusalem
JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Shimon Peres, the head of Israel's opposition Labor Party, has suggested resolving Israeli-Palestinian conflict over Jerusalem by putting its holy sites under U.N. stewardship, a spokesman said Tuesday.
His plan calls for declaring a holy area of sites sacred to Jews, Christians and Muslims in Jerusalem's old walled city as a "world capital," with the U.N. Secretary-General serving as mayor, Peres' spokesman Yoram Dori told Reuters.
Israel claims Jerusalem as its capital, including the Arab eastern part captured in the 1967 Middle East War and annexed in a move that is not recognized internationally. Palestinians want to make East Jerusalem capital of the state they hope to establish in the West Bank and Gaza Strip (
news - web sites) under a U.S.-backed peace plan.

details just how compromised Israel has become – both wittingly and unwittingly - caught up in the plans of the Council of Foreign Relations, the Vatican and the ever-pervasive 'Jewish' Sabateans. Too many these days think that these groups have no real teeth but as this book demonstrates their plans are far from innocent and their dismembering of the Jewish State is going from strength to strength. The book is of course disturbing, yet at the same time liberating, as for so many of us the 'official story' of Israel has never really added up – and here we can understand the Real Story – and even one hopes, try and expose the lies, plans, cover-ups and conspiracies and save Israel while there is still time.

Still, as Israelis apply for passports to travel on their own roads, and get GPS apparati shoved down their throats, or, refusing this, be arrested by international troops in their land...
And while these troops guard the Old City of Jerusalem, ready to arrest and hold them for any infraction...And while more of these troops guard their ancient Temple, ready to pounce for all pretexts...
Israelis still reject who these "Americans" are. They just know something is wrong, and anyone, namely me, who dares tell them the facts is ridiculed, because somehow, this insanity has a good explanation.
Which must be anything but heavily researched fact.

Never surrender Jerusalem!

Why Should Israel Have Jerusalem?

************

The Israeli Jews, stewards for all Twelve Tribes of Israel, must acknowledge their biblical right, first and foremost, to the biblical city of Jerusalem, and seal it with the liberation and restoration of the Temple Mount. What other people or holy book have made Jerusalem famous worldwide? To shy away from this clear biblical mandate to liberate and annex, to go and grow, survive and thrive, in every area of the Promised Land of Israel, capital Jerusalem, undermines their blessings from God and begrudging respect from the nations.

Regardless of pressure from the bloody Vatican and unclean birds like Shimon Peres and dangerous UNJews, the few faithful Jews must do all they can to withstand Jerusalem’s betrayal and rape.

HonestReporting.com

Dear HonestReporting Subscriber,

Will the media never learn?

In March 2009, Ha'aretz published a story alleging "war crimes" and serious ethical failures on the part of the IDF in Gaza. Predictably, many international media outlets repeated the allegations without bothering to do any rudimentary checks.

Subsequently, it was revealed that the soldiers' testimonies were based on nothing more than rumors and hearsay, causing acute embarrassment to Ha'aretz and serving up a salutary lesson for those media outlets that reproduced such shoddy journalism.

Now, Israeli non-governmental organization Breaking the Silence has published a new report reliant upon testimonials from soldiers who served in Gaza during Operation Cast Lead. Once again, allegations of "war crimes" and misdemeanors are based on second-hand evidence and hearsay. Once again, international media outlets rushed to publish a story from another flawed source.

While the BBC gleefully pushed the story to the top of its agenda, The Independent produced a two-page center spread with a screaming headline "Israeli soldiers reveal the brutal truth of Gaza attack". Others also covered the story, including CNN, The Guardian, Associated Press, Reuters, AFP, Financial Times, Times of London, Daily Telegraph, NPR, Toronto Star and the Globe & Mail.

The G & M's Orly Halpern even wrote on her personal Twitter page: "I'm reading a really moving report which I will be writing about for the Globe and Mail. It makes me sick to my stomach." Can an objective and balanced story emerge when emotions rather than facts are the driving force?

Defending the IDF operation against charges including the use of human shields, Golani Brigade commander Col. Avi Peled stated that one of the soldiers who testified in the report was not even in the field at the time: "He told his commander about a week [during] which he wasn't even in the field. He reported about what he heard happened."

NGO Monitor's Dan Kosky points to the Breaking the Silence report's central problems - flawed methodology and absence of any reasonable research standards:

By Breaking the Silence's own admission, the allegations are comprised of "the testimony of around 30 combatants" – a fraction of the thousands of Israeli combat troops deployed during the Gaza conflict. This extremely narrow and presumably hand-picked sample is an absurd basis on which to pass judgment, and even these limited testimonies were entirely unverifiable.
All statements are anonymous, and so-called "evidence" is further compromised by the absence of any details of where and when alleged incidents occurred. Consequently, were the report intended to prompt the IDF to investigate individual allegations, Breaking the Silence has made this impossible.

The IDF has issued an intial response to Breaking the Silence that can be viewed here.
As for Breaking the Silence's motivations, The Jerusalem Post's Amir Mizroch offers an insider's insight on his personal blog on how the group attempted to give Ha'aretz exclusive rights to the story. The paper, in light of its previous embarrassment, did not take the bait and sent the report to the IDF for response. Meanwhile, Breaking the Silence attempted to get the JPost's military correspondent off the story, fearing that the paper would take a critical look at their report. According to Mizroch:

Several days before all this, Breaking The Silence gave out their report to a wide array of foreign media, and not to the IDF to probe into itself, with the caveat that they observe the embargo until after Ha'aretz published the report first. All of which shows their original intent was to get as much uncritical worldwide publicity for their report. Legitimate, sure. Fair? Not so sure.
Breaking the Silence has succeeded in gaining the international publicity that it sought. Many media outlets have also demonstrated their propensity to uncritically publish unverifiable accounts from non-governmental organizations that feed their own unquestioning narrative of Israel and the IDF.

FUNDRAISING IN SAUDI: HRW EXPOSED
The media and NGOs maintain a symbiotic relationship that feeds stories such as the one above. David Bernstein of the Wall St Journal, however, has exposed the politicized agenda and hypocrisy behind NGO superpower Human Rights Watch, a regular source of anti-Israel reports.

He writes about how HRW's Sarah Leah Whitson tried to fundraise from wealthy Saudis by highlighting battles with "pro-Israel pressure groups in the US, the European Union and the United Nations":

The point of my post, though, is not that HRW is pro-Saudi, but that it is maniacally anti-Israel. The most recent manifestation is that its officers see nothing unseemly about raising funds among the elite of one of the most totalitarian nations on earth, with a pitch about how the money is needed to fight "pro-Israel forces," without the felt need to discuss any of the Saudis' manifold human rights violations, and without apparent concern that becoming dependent on funds emanating from a brutal dictatorship leaves you vulnerable to that brutal dictatorship later cutting off the flow of funds, if you don't "behave."

The Atlantic's Jeffrey Goldberg engaged in a e-mail exchange with HRW executive director Ken Roth on the issue. Roth responded:

We report on Israel. Its supporters fight back with lies and deception. It wasn't a pitch against the Israel lobby per se. Our standard spiel is to describe our work in the region. Telling the Israel story--part of that pitch--is in part telling about the lies and obfuscation that are inevitably thrown our way.

As Goldberg puts it:
In other words, yes, the director of Human Rights Watch's Middle East division is attempting to raise funds from Saudis, including a member of the Shura Council (which oversees, on behalf of the Saudi monarchy, the imposition in the Kingdom of the strict Wahhabi interpretation of Islamic law) in part by highlighting her organization's investigations of Israel, and its war with Israel's "supporters," who are liars and deceivers. It appears as if Human Rights Watch, in the pursuit of dollars, has compromised its integrity.

Four week seminar in Shdema

From Women For Israel's Tomorrow (Women in Green) -

Dear Friends,

The first part of our Thursday-Friday four week seminar in Shdema, Gush Etzion, was, thank G-d, a huge success. Hundreds of participants from all over the country filled the rooms of the Land of Israel cultural and educational center in Shdema, hoping that, please G-d, we will soon be able to renovate the place and actually rebuild it.

The seminar started on Thursday, the 17th of Tammuz, with a very needed battle against the Arabs who had turned on huge loudspeakers at the bottom of the hill, blasting music from the illegally built compound, with the very clear intention to disturb our event at the top of the hill in Shdema.

Thanks to the intervention of members of Knesset of the National Union (Ichud Leumi), and from the Gush Etzion Local Council and thanks to the determination of the Committee for a Jewish Shdema who made it clear that the Arab's disturbances are not to be tolerated, the Arab use of the loudspeakers was put to a stop.

The spreading of the news of the increased audacity of the Arabs in Shdema had as a reaction that on Friday even more people showed up to participate in the Shdema seminar and thus be part in the struggle to keep Shdema in Jewish hands. Obviously one cannot sit by idly while the Arabs, funded by USAID and European organizations build an entire complex illegally at the bottom of our hill. Destruction orders of those buildings are given to the Arabs by the civil Administration, but never implemented.

On the other hand, we activists for a Jewish Shdema are not allowed to stay in Shdema for long periods, with the IDF and the Civil Administration checking each and every of our activities we do.

The time has come for the government and the Civil Administration to deal with the real lawbreakers and make sure not to abandon any part of Shdema into the hands of the Arab enemy.

We expect that in our next seminar that, please G-d, will take place in Shdema this coming Thursday-Friday, even more lovers of the land of Israel will attend and thus will pass on a clear message to the authorities: we demand Shdema to stay in Jewish hands!

Summary of the speakers: On Thursday, the 17th of Tammuz, we had the pleasure to listen to Arie Klein who said that one of the lessons we must learn from the 1929 pogrom in Hevron is that the Jews must never abandon the mountain ridge. The only way to protect those living on the coast is by having a large Jewish settlement in the mountains of Judea and Samaria.

Dr. Chaggi Ben Artzi spoke after him about the influence of King Herod's rule on the destruction of the Temple.

A moving prayer of Mincha was held with a Torah scroll that was brought from Kiryat Arba Hevron. After Maariv we broke the fast with a light meal and then watched the movie "The Katif dream" produced by Yuval and Aliza Ginzburg. Watching the movie rekindled in us the anger over the criminal expulsion of our brothers and sisters from Gush Katif and Northern Shomron. We also realized how naive our camp was at the time and now, four years later, fighting for Shdema and other places in the land of Israel, we vowed: never again will we allow such a crime to take place.

The next day, Friday, Dr. Gershon Bar Kochba fascinated over 200 people with his lecture on the Great Revolt.

In the Shdema main hall we held an exhibition of beautiful paintings by artist Michael Morgenstern of Psagot.

Next Thursday we will, please G-d, have lectures (in Hebrew) by Prof. Rafi Yisraeli on the Islamic danger and by Yoram Ettinger on the "Demographic demon" followed by a play "Waiting for the Rear Guard" based on a poem by Uri Tzvi Greenberg.

The public is invited to come enjoy a real Eretz Israel experience and simultaneously be part in the struggle for a Jewish Shdema.

The complete schedule of our seminar can be found on the Women in Green's Hebrew website: http://www.womeningreen.org.il/

Council on Foreign Relations and Netanyahu

Benjamin Netanyahu: CFR Member

Not new but increasingly relevant information, a blast from the past:

Who Owns the National Bank of Israel? [who gets the NIS seigniorage?] - Barry Chamish, February 21, 2006

[Note: Up to now, each Israelite was stolen of about 800,000 US dollars-equivalent of seigniorage]

Where CFR sell each other's profits. [Barry Chamish continues with information from a reliable source]

I told you a couple of days ago that a CFR member, (Edgar Bronfman's son Matthew who purchased it for the family), purchased 6% of Israel Discount Bank, with option to buy another 25% the controlling interest, listen to this:

November 14, 2005, there was a press release from the Israel Finance Ministry, with EHUD OLMERT as finance minister, to the effect that 9.99% of Bank Leumi's shares had been sold to the "Barnea Investment Group" ( a Jewish enough sounding name, don't you think?), in parenthesis the Cerberus-Gabriel group, with option to buy another 10%, which would make it the controlling interest in the bank, in this particular case.

Prof. Amir Barnea is the founding Dean of the Arison School of business, teaches at the Recanati School of Business, TAUGHT AT TAU, SPECIALIZES IN CORPORATE FINANCE AND IS A VISITING PROFESSOR IN THE US, IN PARTICULAR IN HOUSTON, AT RICE UNIVERSITY, and is a partner in the Singer Barnea investment firm.

What the press release failed to mentioned, and what the Knesset official release in January of 2006 - complete with picture of beaming Ariel Sharon, Ehud Olmert, Stanley Fischer, and Jewish representative of the Barnea group - "failed to mention", and what the Israeli Press the world over failed to mention, is that the Barnea group is a front for the Cerberus hedge fund, (the Cerberus-Gabriel group, according to my research, only appears on the internet in connection with this single transaction of Ben-Leumi; with other words, it doesn't exist!). Who REALLY bought 9.99% of Bank Leumi, and who, by their own words, definitely plans to exercise their option to buy the rest, thereby making them the controlling interest of the "National Bank of Israel"? Well, the CERBERUS HEDGE FUND, WITH AT ITS HEAD NONE OTHER THAN DAN QUAYLE, BILDERBERG GROUP MEMBER, FORMER US VICE PRESIDENT, WHO FAILED TO OBTAIN THE LAST REPUBLICAN NOMINATION, WHO STILL HAS PRESIDENTIAL ASPIRATIONS, WHO REGULARLY VISITS THE WHITE HOUSE AND HELPS THEM WHENEVER HE CAN, WHOSE WIFE BELONGS TO A HOUSTON-BASED CHURCH.

More details: The Cerberus group was competing against six other bidders, and BID AS A STRATEGIC INVESTOR vs. FINANCIAL INVESTORS . With other words, Dan Quayle's purpose is not to make a lot of money, but to be able to do whatever he wants and actively control the bank. Not only that, but he paid so much more for the deal than what it is worth that the whole financial and banking community was in shock!!

WHY WOULD THE FORMER VP OF THE U.S. PAY SO MUCH FOR THIS ISRAELI BANK UNLESS THE US, IN PARTICULAR THE BUSH FAMILY (DON'T FORGET THAT HE WAS THE VP OF GEORGE BUSH SENIOR) WANTS TO CONTROL THE FLOW OF FUNDS HERE IN ISRAEL?

EHUD OLMERT, THEN FINANCE MINISTER, AND STANLEY FISCHER, DIRECTOR OF THE BANK OF ISRAEL, SOLD A STRATEGIC FINANCIAL ASSET OF THE STATE OF ISRAEL TO THE ENEMY! THE CFR IS THE ENEMY! THE BILDERBERG GROUP IS THE ENEMY!
And [the reliable source] found the source for the donations. They were both American members of the CFR;

Israel is on its way to privatization. The banking sector is amongst the first ones to take a step in this direction. Bank Leumi was in the market recently and attracted bids from several players. Bidder names include strategic investors like Lev Leviev, IDB and Bill Davidson and also financial contenders like UBS, Deutsche Bank and Citibank. However the winner was an American Hedge fund, Cerberus-Gabriel.

Cerberus-Gabriel has purchased 9.9% of the shares of the bank. The purchase of this stake was for approximately $500 million. The fund also has the option of buying an additional 10.01% in the bank. This will bring the total shares quantum to 20% and is roughly valued at $1 billion. This option of additional purchase has to be utilized with in the next one and a half years.

Ehud Olmert, Finance Minister of Israel, is reportedly quite satisfied with the outcome. He feels that this is a positive development and will help the over all Israeli economy. He is amongst the top promoters of privatization move. In his statement he also mentioned that the purchase will ensure healthy competition between the banks and will definitely contribute a lot to the local market.

Another person quite happy with the development is Yaron Zelekha, the treasury's accountant-general, who led the tender. He sees it as fulfillment of the promise made to the people of Israel about privatization of the entire banking system in 2005. Ynetnews reports:
Cerberus-Gabriel offered NIS 2.474 billion (about USD 500 million) for 9.99 percent of the bank's shares, and has the option to purchase another 10.01 percent of the shares held by the State within a year and a half, and to reach a total holding of 20 percent of the bank's shares.”
